The north of Mallorca is especially suitable for growing grapes. The quality of the soil, the climate and type of grapes that grow on the island are excellent reasons for the growth of this sector.
On the island there exist two specific certificates of origin: Pla I Llevant and Binissalem. As per these categories, wineries are authorized to use types of white grapes such as Premsal Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling and red such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Mantenegro and Callet, among others.
Within the categories of origin, wines in Mallorca are labelled according to geographical location as Wine from the Balearic Islands, Wine from Mallorca and Wine from the Tramuntana Mountain Range, North Coast. The third location comprises wine produced in the area of the mountains between Andratx and Pollensa. Growing conditions are excellent due to its content in limestone and the Mediterranean climate which favours growth.

Founded by the German businessman Hans-Peter Schwarzkopf, this winery open to the public is different to what people are used to. The facade is huge and made from glass and steel.
The wine produced in this vineyard is 100% organically grown and are exclusively local varieties. Production is high quality and carefully controlled and the wine can be acquired in gourmet shops and select restaurants and hotels.
Vinyes Mortitx
Located very close to the Torrente de Mortitx, wines from this vineyard are produced from grapes grown 400 metres above sea level with a production of approximately 100.000 bottles per year.
Can Vidalet
Founded in 1996, this vineyard was paramount in the recovery of wine production. In addition, they have started producing spirituous liquors. On their premises they hold wine tasting sessions which include products from Mallorca.
