Festival Cap Rocat 2026

As in previous years, Cap Rocat will once again be the epicentre of classical music in Mallorca.

The Cap Rocat Festival of Mallorca, first held in 2021, continues to establish itself as one of the most exclusive and prestigious musical events of the European summer. Its exceptional location surrounded by nature and under the artistic direction of Ilias Tzempetonidis, Artistic Director at the San Carlo Theatre in Naples, makes this a truly unique cultural experience to enjoy the finest classical music by the sea.

The International Music Festival

The Madina Mayurqa Foundation, with the valuable support of Cap Rocat, is proud to present the 6th edition of the Cap Rocat Festival, which will take place on July 31, August 1 and 2, 2026.

The festival has achieved great success both nationally and internationally and has become one of the most important musical events of the European summer. This new edition will feature three exclusive evenings combining artistic excellence with an incomparable setting overlooking the Mediterranean.

As in previous editions, the former fortress will host outstanding international classical music performers. Audiences can expect world-class performances in a unique cultural experience by the Mediterranean.

About Cap Rocat

Cap Rocat is situated in a former military fortress, classified as a site of cultural interest and a national monument. Its architecture is unique and is perfectly integrated in the surrounding scenery with its 2 kms of coastline. 

The Antonio Obrador Architectural Studio was responsible for restoring the fortress and converting it into a hotel. The restoration has been highly praised both nationally and internationally and has been awarded the Europa Nuestra prize for its impeccable restoration and the Hispania Nostra award and the Fortress Study Group, among others.

Organized by the Madina Mayurqa Foundation 

The Madina Mayurqa Foundation aims to create high quality cultural events on the island in order to foment this aspect of society and with this object in mind, has collaborated with Cap Rocat to hold the Cap Rocat Festival. 

In addition to creating cultural events, the Foundation also aims to preserve local traditions and the architectural patrimony of Mallorca. From July 31, August 1 and 2, 2026, it will be the centre of the European musical scene with the 6th edition of the Cap Rocat Festival, organized by the Madina Mayurqa Foundation in collaboration with Cap Rocat.

This festival is unique, in that it brings together architecture, history and artistic excellence in a former fortress overlooking the sea and considered a national monument.

Performing musicians at Cap Rocat Festival 2026 

The 2026 edition of the Cap Rocat Festival presents an outstanding programme featuring internationally acclaimed artists, reinforcing its position as one of the leading classical music events in Mallorca.

The festival will open with an opera gala starring Juan Diego Flórez, one of the most celebrated tenors in the world and a leading figure in the bel canto repertoire. He will be accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands (OSIB) under the direction of Pablo Mielgo, Artistic and Music Director of the orchestra.

On August 1, the renowned pianist Rudolf Buchbinder, widely considered one of the greatest interpreters of Beethoven, will offer a recital showcasing his exceptional artistry developed over more than six decades of international career.

The festival will conclude on August 2 with a performance of Tosca, conducted by Giacomo Sagripanti and featuring an exceptional cast including Lise Davidsen in the title role, alongside Freddie De Tommaso as Cavaradossi and Ludovic Tézier as Scarpia.

The production will also include the Cap Rocat Festival Choir, conducted by Joan Company, further highlighting the festival’s commitment to combining international excellence with local talent.
