Miquel Costa i Llobera

Miquel Costa i Llobera (1854 -1922) was a prominent figure of the Renaixença, the Catalan literary revival that took place in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was  a poet, scholar and priest and his work is a tribute to the natural beauty of his homeland based on a skilful use of classical tradition.

His most famous work “El Pi de Formentor” was written when he was only 21 years old and is without a doubt one of the landmarks of Catalan lyric poetry and encapsulates his love for nature and his technical skill. The pine tree is a metaphor for our own lives when we face challenges and adversity and the need to overcome them with courage, just as the pine tree survives against all obstacles.

Art and culture in the heart of Pollença

Classical music, culture and history come together in an atmosphere of elegance and exclusivity. Priority has been given to the preservation of heritage and artistic excellence.

An exhibition by local artist Amador Magraner was the inaugural event and the beginning of a new phase for Can Costa in 2023 as a cultural centre.

The Grand Hall of this wonderful house is now a platform to promote contemporary art and cultural activities which help to enrich this aspect of Pollença.

Behind this project is Joan Mateu Bou, himself born in Pollença, a lawyer and philanthropist who has greatly contributed to the preservation of the cultural and historic heritage of his home town, not least of which is the maintenance of the birthplace of Costa i Llobera in the heart of the town of Pollença.

Pollentia Properties is constantly looking to promote and give visibility to artistic and cultural activities in the town of Pollensa. With this in mind, we invite all our clients and acquaintances to visit Can Costa for a totally sensorial experience.

Main Hall

The Grand Hall is located on the first floor of the house and this is where past and present come together. It has been transformed into a new and vibrant space, perfect for hosting modern art exhibitions, concerts and other activities.
